“Winning souls for Christ does not take a job description, or a degree--it only takes desire.”

Evangelist MICHAEL A. NASH

Kudos to my friend who invited me to church that Sunday. I’m so happy I said yes and showed up. From that day forward, I had a sense of being called to evangelize or preach the Gospel. It began to manifest in many ways. For example, I had a spiritual conviction, a deep passion with enthusiasm for sharing the message of Christ. A burning desire to communicate and share the Bible with others. I got a hold of some Gospel tracts. I didn’t know what they were. Someone from the church explained them to me so I looked on the back and saw they were printed and published by the Fellowship Tract League. Overjoyed, I ordered hundreds of them monthly and started passing them out to my friends and people in my neighborhood. I was one of 12 siblings and sometimes my brothers would follow me into the projects. My objective was to share the Gospel of Jesus everywhere I go. Many of the people in our neighborhood were using drugs and people would send for me to pray, but many times they would have already overdosed. I took comfort in knowing that at one time or another, they had received a tract from me. I grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Union County where there are many cultures. There are Blacks, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindu, Hispanic, and White people. It didn’t matter what the nationality, I would order these tracts in their languages. It didn’t matter what day of the week; I knew I was commissioned and therefore on a mission to share the Gospel of Jesus. I would always say, “Here am I, Lord, send me!” This has been my passion for souls ever since March 23, 1993. I am grateful for the many souls who came to Christ, and I’ve been able to point them to a good Bible teaching Church.

“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power…”1 Corinthians 2:4 (NKJV)

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Acts 20:24 (NLT)

Both scriptures speak strongly to my heart, my passion for Christ, and souls for Christ. My speech has not always been the most eloquent. I have been known to stutter at sometimes in my youth, but I’ve learned to be committed to studying the Word of God and get understanding, to submit, and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through me.
